What made you want to intern for Design Ready Controls?

When the time came for Jack to start looking for a summer internship he came across Earth Scout– a sister company to Design Ready Controls. While reviewing the job description and responsibilities of the field service technician intern, Jack saw himself working for Earth Scout and was interested in the opportunities, experiences, and knowledge it would bring. Much of what was outlined, aligned with Jack and what he is interested in pursuing in the future.

What do you like most about Design Ready Controls, why?

“All the people I have come across from Earth Scout along with Design Ready Controls have been awesome. I like going over to the Design Ready Controls Brooklyn Park manufacturing facility to attend Lunch and Learns and Friday activities. The weekly activities help build connections with other interns in the program and learn more about the company overall. I also enjoy going out to the farms and installing the Earth Scouts.”

What kinds of projects are you currently working on right now?

Jack goes out to the field to help farmers install and troubleshoot Earth Scouts units. He has also been supporting the updates to firmware on older units. Jack is excited about his internship showcase presentation, coming up in August. What he enjoys the most is how each day is completely different.

What are your next steps and how has your Design Ready Controls internship prepared you?

Jack will be returning to the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities this fall Jack has learned a lot from his internship with Earth Scout, with the two biggest takeaways being the real-world experiences and building his professional connections.
