What made you want to intern for Design Ready Controls?

Kelvin was first introduced to Design Ready Controls through his frequent trips home from college. Intrigued by what he saw, Kelvin researched the company and saw it to be somewhere he wanted to work! Shortly after, Design Ready Controls posted their internships and found a position that closely aligned with his interests, academics, and overall career aspirations.

What do you like most about Design Ready Controls, why?

What I enjoy most about Design Ready Controls is the relaxed work culture. My internship provides ample freedom to tackle projects independently while offering guidance whenever needed. This environment has significantly enhanced my problem-solving skills and fostered collaboration with my colleagues. Additionally, I appreciate the internship program’s structure and the weekly activities, which have allowed me to build connections with fellow interns.

What kinds of projects are you currently working on right now?

During his internship with the Design Ready Controls Test and Automation team, Kelvin finished two projects; One focused on updating the Test Jig PLC’s with a Modbus solution, while the other was dedicated to adding wireless functionality to a previous Test and Automation invention. He hopes to wrap up a third project before the end of summer.

What are your next steps and how has your Design Ready Controls internship prepared you?

Kelvin plans to graduate from Saint Cloud State University in December 2024. Upon graduation, he hopes to have time to travel and explore for 1+ months and then find a computer engineering career in Minnesota.
