Internship Focus: Quality Engineer Intern

About Minseok:

Minseok was born in South Korea and came to the United States in 2018 to attend Mankato State University. Minseok enjoys CrossFit, playing soccer, and being outside with his friends outside of work and school.

What made you want to intern for Design Ready Controls?

Minseok saw the quality engineer intern job on LinkedIn and was excited to find a lot of similarities between his passion and what he was learning in school. “During the interview, I sensed the team’s strong passion for their company, culture, and desire to share real-world experiences.” The facility tour following the interview left a great impression on Minseok. The production floor was well-organized, clean, and bright. This made him eager to join the team and apply what he’s learned while continuing to learn.

What do you like most about Design Ready Controls, why?

What Minseok likes most about Design Ready Controls is the people. “Everyone respects each other, and whenever I have questions team members go out of their way to provide thorough explanations and often bring me to the production floor to show real examples.” The company’s extensive documentation, such as templates, and processes, is incredibly inspiring. The ability to engage and utilize tools and supporting software/processes has allowed him to learn without always needing to ask or search online.

What kinds of projects are you currently working on right now?

Minseok creates visual aids such as a process flowchart, an A3 report, and an attachable bin using a 3D printer. His focus is to help minimize waste and reduce errors and he is excited to have these implemented so he can start tracking the impact each has made.

What are your next steps and how has your Design Ready Controls internship prepared you?

“Through my internship at Design Ready Controls, I have gained valuable real-world experience in my field. I have learned which methods to apply based on theoretical knowledge, how to communicate effectively with diverse teams, and how to manage time efficiently. Leveraging these practical experiences, I plan to pursue a full-time role in quality or manufacturing engineering after my internship.”
